Friends of Music at St. Philip’s In The Hills Episcopal Church presents noontime recitals during Lent on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. An array of talented local instrumentalists and vocalists will provide thirty minutes of music – an entertaining and relaxing way to spend your lunch hour.

Northwest Fire loses public information officer to cancer

The Northwest Fire District has lost its 18-year veteran public information officer to a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Katy Heiden, 54, joined the Fire District in 1994 after leaving the private sector as a public relations manager.

Oro Valley brings back free concert series and children's symphony program

Through a unique partnership, the Town of Oro Valley and the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) are joining forces to bring back two community events – a town concert series and children’s symphony program.

“We value the role that arts and culture play in our community,” said Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath. “Our residents have expressed tremendous interest in additional programs and events. Through our partnership with SAACA and other supporters, the Town of Oro Valley is now able to provide concerts and children’s programs free to the public, beginning February 16.”

That is, its aquifer is dropping because it uses water much faster than it replenishes it. It's not a new problem.

The Pima County Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and their contractor, Ashton Company, will be performing various construction activities as part of the Cortaro Farms Road/Magee Road: Thornydale Road to Oracle Road Improvement Project. These activities include weekend work and a traffic detour on Magee Road.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona warns that Cupid’s arrow may be aimed directly at consumers’ wallets. Those who find themselves awash in love’s emotion should remember that con artists thrive on the fact that emotion can sometimes trump logic.

There are three categories of scams that we all should be aware of at this romantic season as well as throughout the year.
