Oro Valley wants to know what its residents think | Community Spirit
At the annual State of the Town Address, Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath announced the launch of 'Your Voice, Our Future', a process designed to garner community input to guide critical decisions about the Town’s future.
Residents’ quality of life will be the focus of this project, resulting in an updated General Plan for Oro Valley, which is required by Arizona state statute. Guidance received throughout the process will result in policies that reflect the community’s values.
The Town of Oro Valley is inviting residents, business owners and stakeholders to engage in this process by taking an online survey or joining the online discussion about what matters most to them. Participants can earn rewards such as Aquatic Center annual passes, Tucson Symphony Orchestra tickets and seats at next year’s State of the Town Address.
“We want to hear your ideas and we want you to stay engaged in this process to see how it all unfolds,” said Mayor Hiremath in his Address. “This is a very important time for our community, and I’m inviting you to join the conversation!”
To get involved, log onto www.YourVoiceOV.com and tell the town what is important to you as a resident. Hard copies of the community survey will also be available in the October 16 edition of the Explorer Newspaper.
This process was last completed in 2005, and the Town’s population has grown significantly, changing the Town’s demographic and needs. Now is the time to plan for the future!
Areas of discussion include: land use, moving people and goods safely and efficiently, economic opportunities, conservation of natural resources, public safety and planning for parks and recreational facilities.
