'Don't leave them behind' fundraising effort by CPLC, Inc. | Community Spirit
There are over 40,000 educated, talented, and skilled young people in Arizona that are eager to become taxpayers and contribute to the community and the State’s economy. But many will not be able to do so without a little help.
‘Don’t Leave Them Behind’ is a 30-day fundraising campaign sponsored by Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., who is hoping to raise $100,000 by December 31.
The purpose behind this fundraiser is to help 215 young people, who meet all the requirements and have all the paperwork ready in hand, to apply for consideration to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, all they lack is the application fee. Getting this fee will allow them to receive a work permit, travel without fear of deportation, become fully productive members of our communities, and contribute to the nation’s well-being.
“This is a collaborative effort to help young people who are contributing members of the community and who value family, friends, education, and giving to others. They are valedictorians, leaders, role models, talented professionals, and agents of change with much to give,” said Edmundo Hidalgo, CPLC President and CEO, in a recent news release. “An anonymous donor stepped in with the first $20,000, we urge our community to help us reach our goal to raise an additional $80,000 in 30 days. Together we can make it happen and realize the dreams of 215 youth and their families.”
